It’s cold in the winters and the elevator is always broken but, the atmosphere is great and people are friendly.

I overall really like the way our lectures are taught, the lecturers keep me engaged and have good content. I don’t have many complaints.

Foundation and MA courses are based in the original art school, dating back to the 1800s. So the vibe is very good for art students, feels like artists have worked there. Very high standard of teaching - definitely get your moneys worth. Could be a bit more contact time and definitely better communication regarding timetable changes. Overall a good experience.

Excellent quality theoretical lectures - quite an intense first part of the course, where the bulk of the theory is taught. If you struggle with this be aware that this is heavy. But there is support from tutors if you need it. Studio spaces allocated in the second part of the course; decent sized spaces too. Tutorials usually every week with your pathway and individually. Depends on the tutor of course. There’s an expectation that you work very independently and this increases as the course goes on. Suits some but not others. This also includes juggling personal and work commitments to put in the hours (about 30 hours per week…!) If you work hard, and have a good attitude you’ll get the best out of the course.

Wales is a bit cheaper than England for some things; local food spots (not chains etc), prescription medicine. Friendly people who like a chat. Some parts of the city get a bit roudy at night, and some areas (town hill for example) you probably want to avoid as they’re a bit dodgy. Lots of retail and hospitality spots providing job opportunities; can’t comment on work placements due to the course I’m on. Alright nightlife if you’re a party person. There is a ‘strip’ with lots of bars and small clubs. It’s alright. Also more bars and pubs in the Uplands area which is popular with young students.
