It's pretty good

Arts University Plymouth has a really personal and caring touch that has been present throughout my 3 years here. The support is phenomenal, and every single staff member seems to represent that ethos. It’s a super, supportive environment, where I’ve not been afraid to take risks with my art. On top of that, the facilities are amazing. I did my foundation year elsewhere, and when I compare the facilities available to me, compared to my foundation cohort, I know I made the right choice. My technical education is parallel with my academic and contextual learning. I’d like to see more nominated, guaranteed 1st year housing choices, so AUP students don’t get pushed out by the bigger universities in the city, but in the grand scheme of things, I’ve not missed out. This might not be the case in the future. Overall, I’m really happy that I came here to study. It’s a really nurturing environment with exceptional tutors who care immensely about us students. Plymouth itself is becoming a really important city for arts, whilst remaining affordable. I’ve appreciated the affordability.

Lots of in person contact time, plus availability when I was feeling doubtful about my work. I cannot stress how much in person support you get here. It’s fantastic. The worst thing: when I first arrived I was a bit shocked at how small my studio space seemed, but soon came to learn that students space is dynamic. If you need more, you get more. If you need less, that’s ok. Space has not been a problem at any point.
