Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

I’m in first year and I’ve come to Portsmouth from living outside of towns and the tutors found ways early in the year to help us all socialise with other course mates and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know other students and also learning the course

Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

I think the facilities are incredible. Tons of areas to work and offer lots of support groups (study support). However the library could have more computers mainly cause the library facilities are so good it gets very busy in there and it’s a struggle to find a free spot to work!

Student support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

Really good - they focus on making sure all students settle in the first year and they keep up to date on attendance making sure all students aren’t struggling with home sickness or anything else. The academic support offered is also immaculate. Tutors are happy to help at any time whenever

Students' union

What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?

Yeah they could be a little more engaging in my opinion. However the facilities offered are nice

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

Yeah it’s a 1 minute walk for coop or Sainsbury’s and the university is a 10 minute walk which is very ideal

Societies and Sports

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

Lots of societies offered to students as well as that they offer tons of private leagues for football fans who just want to have fun with mates.

Lecturers and teaching quality

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

The tutors are really kind and I feel as if I can just have a normal conversation with them about anything. Make me feel really comfortable to work more efficiently.

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

They offer many opportunities for volunteering and work placements. They’re also very helpful with transferable skills as one of my mates I’ve met from uni was transferred quickly from Winchester to Portsmouth in the first week!
