Best: - The facilities in the department - The lectures and information provided in them - How ideal the selected academic readings are in regards to the lecture info - Seminar system Worst: - Though reading and lecture information crosses very well and is ideal, almost makes more work for us without receiving real benefit from it (e.g. spending hours reading academic work for the lecture to cover it all anyway) - PHD Students as Seminar Leaders, they're great but obviously have never led group discussions before

Best: - The quality of the accommodation - The location on campus in regards to my department building - How ideal the walking time is to everything else on campus - The social spaces/hub Worst: - 'Over security'? Gates into side building access are closed before lectures/work day is finished, so an inconvenience - Use of key cards rather than keys into every door you need to go through in order to access your room

The best aspects are the amazing, high-end facilities and largely supportive staff, both in teaching and pastoral supervisors. They're also very accommodating when it comes to issues completing assignments. It could possibly be improved by organising more social events to get to know people especially on the course but they do have many anyways.

The lecturers are largely very good at their job, they explain things well and the course always supports the wider context of working in the film industry after studying here. There is a good balance between the theory and analysis behind elements of film and the practical filmmaking and TV studio recording techniques that give us the skills we need to go into the industry.

York is a beautiful city to live in, it doesn't feel like being in an actual city which can be very overwhelming, crowded and because of this more unsafe. You can complain about the lack of events and nightlife for students but as someone who doesn't go out much and loves old, historic buildings I think York is great for students like me

The rooms and ensuite where a good size and rarely had any faults. The kitchen could get a bit crowded with 12 people and only 2 ovens but there was a good amount of seating unlike other accommodations I've been to. The cleaners never cleaned that thoroughly and we often had to go over what they had done but it was better than having no cleaners.
