For someone who was very unsure about the big step to university, it had been the best decision made. One I am very grateful and proud for making. In current times it has affected the experience and will likely continue to do so however expectation wise it has exceeded. I am a proud BU student.

I am very pleased with the facilities, especially considering you can use both the ones at Talbot and Landsdowne. The library offers a large variety with the opportunity to rent a study space for presentations, book out computers, the obvious large selection of books.

Personally I feel this could be pushed more, I struggled knowing who to reach out to when I needed support however was pointed in the right direction. Whether it is current struggling at the time or more serious in nature there is always someone available across the support team on hand to help. For some services there is a waiting list after initial assessment but the support is good.

Fantastic connection to other areas in Bournemouth especially with uni bus pass which is allowed on more buses (other bus service provider), regular activities provided by student union and res life whether this days out or summer ball. The nightlife in Bournemouth is good, whether it’s near to accommodation or in the town centre itself.

A large variety of societies to suit everyone even those more shy and quiet. The same with sports, I know a large number on my course are part of a sports society which they enjoy especially the social events

In both 1st and 2nd year I feel the support has been very good especially with the move to online learning. The teaching hours is staggered which is good as it allows you study time and time to meet with tutors if support is needed without disturbing other lectures.

The university have a dedicated placement team in charge of assisting with our placements for each faculty, whether it is looking through cv and advising improvements or helping prepare for interviews, I am extremely satisfied with the help I have received during placement search. Regular career fairs are provided to help find employment alongside emails sent of student job vacancies around the university. This year especially (second year) there have been a larger number of industry speakers join lectures which has been insightful and very engaging. Additional speakers offering work placement experiences have also visited through my careers hun to deliver presentations. Local individuals also reach out to the university to give voluntary experience for example I was able to help in first year for one afternoon/evening at the Dorset Tourism Awards, setting up the venue, greeting businesses to the ceremony and helping present the awards. Done great industry knowledge learnt!

I stayed here during 1st year only for 3 months. The room size was good bigger than other halls, a decent size kitchen however different to what was seen at an open day but was almost better in some way. Wifi was good and a nice communal area, I didn’t use it however it was busy most nights. I had nothing but issues which were reported to the staff, I left due to heavy mould on return after the Christmas break before covid. If I hadn’t applied later on (may) for the September 2019 intake I would’ve chosen somewhere else.
