Amazing student support, facilities could be improved/modernised but overall good study spaces and a sense of community

High cost for halls but in line with York overall costs- property management varies- good response time for any requests but overly harsh for fines and they charge £16 per resident even though there can be up to 20 per floor which is a ridiculous cost and no breakdown of where this money goes especially during a cost of living crisis

The campus is lovely and green, there are a lot of activities for students including activities that have nothing to do with drinking which is nice. Very inclusive uni. Sometimes the buses are not great so it’s not always quick and easy to go to town but the location is not bad. There could be more study areas. Library is always full and hard to find a place nowadays. Books in the library are fab tho!

UoY has amazing partnerships. I went to La Sorbonne for my year abroad and it was an amazing and enriching experience. Uni experience could be improved for joint honours students. Would be nice if there was more communication between the departments so that students don’t suddenly get overwhelmed with work and it could be a bit more balanced. Semesterisation has also made joint honours courses less balanced and it would be nice if the uni could work on making them more balanced like they were when we had terms. Wish we had more contact hours. I have three hours of French per week and two days a week I have absolutely no contact hours

Had the best time in Halls. Lovely room, lots of light, lovely kitchen and amazing people. I always feel safe around campus
