I remember having a marvellous time and really reaping the benefits of this wonderful place, campus, area etc. Only one negative thing sticks in my mind. I remember attending a lecture, attended by about 50 students, where the lecturer asks the students what they thought about regional accents. There were various similar replies: "Poor upbringing", "Deprived childhood", "Lack of education", "Few prospects", "Underprivileged". Well, this might tell you something about the approach you should take here, depending on your background and accent. If you are afflicted with a horrid regional accent, like myself, just accept that you will not be as readily accepted and you will have to work that bit harder to be accepted. Sad but true.
