University rating
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
My experience at WUC has been invaluable. It has not been easy by any stretch of the imagination! Times I have really wanted to give up but having some great friends, a brilliant mother and great tutors im still here with just 84 days left to go!
I have been given the opportunity to be a student ambassador, student representative and head of events/president of the equine society and all have these have really improved my confidence and really filled out my CV.
All in all, there isnt anything I would change about my time here. Im really going to miss it and any chance to be back I will be!
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
The facilities at Writtle are great, from the equine training and developments horse facilities - horse walker, menage, water treadmill etc to research equipment such as Tekscan, eye temperature equipment
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Support offered by academic is great, not only for assignment work but preparing for the outside world.
Also support staff are good and helpful
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
As president of the equine society, I have had some dealings with the SU, the president and Abi are great,
The SU as a whole has not always been overly supportive to the societies needs.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Student nights are good,
There are a few clubs that are involved, as well as the events that Writtle put on - moulshams 11!!!!
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
There are many varied clubs and societies, if there is not a club available in a sport/hobby you enjoy, there is the option to start up something if there is interest.
Being the president of the Equine Society has allowed me to put on events that members are interested in, including external lectures and demonstrations
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I like that how interactive the lectures are,
Also I like that at WUC you are known as a person, not just a number there is a real personal touch at WUC.
Staff are available on hand if you want to help to help yourself, staff go above and beyond to help if you are willing to help yourself !
How many contact hours per week do you have?
12
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
Writtle has massively helped me out in trying to get as much expereince as I can in the industry I want to go in for.
From academic staff helping me and support staff, including Mark Yates the careers advisor helping create a CV and Job applications.
Staff have helped me fulfil my desire to create events and have believed in me to succeed in these events, giving my confidence ib=n myself and added experience for my CV
Cannot thank WUC enough for their help in this area
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Accommodation is satisfactory, rooms are a good size and pricing is good for a uni outside London.
The food overall is poor, it is not the best and they have now reduced staff and alternative eating outlets
