Fantastic university. Excellent location with good transport links to city centre. Beautiful buildings with great lecture theatres. Friendly community. Great international population.

We have TWO students unions. Glasgow University Union and Queen Margaret Union! They compete in freshers week to get freshers to come to their events, it's a friendly affair though! You can be a member of both unions which is fantastic. GUU is more sports orientated while QM is associated more with gigs and arty stuff.

Glasgow is a superb city. Particularly if this is your first time away from home. Everyone is very welcoming and up for a laugh. The scottish people are so friendly. The West End has a fantastic social scene from ashton lane with great restauranrs and bars just a stone throw away from campus, supermarkets and a cinema, it has so much to offer. We have a subway station just by campus where you can hop on a subway and be in city centre in just 8 minutes.

Huge range of societies that are extremely accessible to all.

Most departments are superbly organised. Particuarly English Language. Many departments have started recording lectures so if students are unable to attend they can watch from home.

Standard student halls! Perfect for one year, especially to make friends. I definitely would suggest Student Apartments on Hillhead Street, very close to the University and many exchange students stay here so you can meet people from all over the world. They are big flats with some shared rooms (I had a single) and there were 5 or 6 bathrooms. And 18 people so there was always someone to talk to.

I really enjoy studying at the University of Glasgow. It is a great campus with a mix of modern facilities and old buildings and I love the location of it in the vibrant West End of Glasgow. The lectures and lecturers are all very approachable and I am grateful to be taught by such experts in their area of academia.

The uni facilities are good however we have apparently taken on our maximum number of students for the past two years. That means that during essay and exam times it is extremely hard to face a place to study in because there are so many people. The university are looking into this and have been changing library spaces to accommodate for these numbers.

We have great support here and a lot of it is the same building which is helpful. I have personally used the carer service and they were very helpful.

We have two student Unions. I do not like the Glasgow University Union, however I do like the Queen Margaret Union so we are lucky that we have a choice. The Queen Margaret Union hosts regular events and music concerts and even hosted the Radio 1 Big Weekend Academy where I got to do lots of workshops and took part in a Q&A session with Ferne Cotton.

2014 has been an amazing year for Glasgow and I could not have picked a better city to be in. There is always something going on such as music concerts and theatre shows but also the worldwide events such as the the MTV EMA's, the Commonwealth Games and Radio One's Big Weekend. Glasgow is such a vibrant place and I always recommend people to come and visit it.

Loads of clubs and societies to choose from and if there isn't a society then you are able to create one. For example a friend set up the Tea Society as there wasn't previously one.

The courses at the University are good because you choose three for the first two years of study and that allows you to change your degree if you prefer a different subject to the one you came to study. For example I came to do an English Literature and Theatre joint honours degree and now I am doing an English Literature and English Language degree. All of the lecturers are approachable and have office hours or will email you back quickly if you have any questions about anything such as essays or exams etc.

I lived in halls last year and they were okay but quite expensive and not very close to the university. This year I am in a privately rented flat and it is much nicer. It isn't overly cheap when I speak to friends in other universities but I think it is because it is a nice area.
