There is something in Manchester for everyone, and the Students' Union in particular highlights that. However, in supporting students with things like mental health or loneliness, the university seems lacking in resources, particularly face to face, and with struggling people in mind.

The teaching staff are mostly very good, and the university is generally very good at providing the essential resources to aid studies. However, I feel that post graduate opportunities have not been made clear to me by instructors of the course nor its content.

Accomodation was simplistic and dated, and arguably not worth the cost of rent. To have unlimited use of amenities and an ensuite was useful, however within my year of residence there were multiple maintenance issues in my flat, and signs of poor overall maintenance of all areas. For example, ventilation in the bathroom was poor, causing mould growth (which the university painted over, splattering paint over the taps), there were numerous silverfish in my room, and drain blockages. The overall feel of my flat was that it was dated, uncomfortable and uncared for, however compared with others, the common space (kitchen/diner) was spacious, with plenty of storage space for 8 people.

Manchester University is a great place to study for several reasons. Close to city-centre, with professional teachers and a high range of extracurricular activities, there is always something to do in Uni, let it be for studying, finding cheap stuffs to eat, or engage in a pub quizz or a yoga class. Facilities are clean, modern, with a tiny sense of Victorian architecture, making it very agreeable to study in. There is a variety of courses, so everyone will found what they like. Life on campus is good, with several accommodation places with full arrangements that can please all students, from catered to non catered, from shared bathroom to ensuite, from party life in Fallowfield to quiet scenery in Victoria Campus. The only thing I have to reproach is the price of accommodations, they are deeply expensive, even though it's compensate by the amount of cheap stuffs to do on campus. Contact hours, and intellectual exchanges with teachers are also be a bit restrained, compared to what I am used.

Manageable in-class lectures with 200 people. Small groups of 7/8 students in in-class seminars make it very easy to have discussion about the subjects. Although, seminar hours are too short, as it's only 1h per course, so it can be sometimes frustrating if I want to pursue and challenge myself on the subject. Lecturers are professionals and kind and attentive of international students.

Brook Hall is modern, well furbished accommodation. Rooms are big, ensuite bathrooms are very nice, even though it lacks some furniture, like hangers. Heating system is working efficiently. It was described as a quiet accommodation, for students who love quiet personal space, and it's exactly the experience I have. It is described as part of Victoria Park, but it is not located in it, making it not surrounded by quiet scenery and parks like it was advertised. Although, Its close proximity with the university makes it very agreeable as I can reach most of my uni courses within 20minutes walk. The cleaning system could be improved, as cleaning ladies only come in common places such as stairs, but don't clean the corridors of flats, or kitchens, unlike what they do in other uni's accommodation. The maintenance team is very reactive, even to simply change a micro-wave or work on a water leak. The laundry system is excruciatingly expensive, with a 3,30£ wash and a 2£ dry, and dryers are not very efficient, charging up the price of the laundry sometimes. I would say that the accommodation is very nice to live in, but it's not worthing the 180£ a week we pay, especially as an international students who has to pay all her accommodations fees in a one time.
