I really love the atmosphere and facilities at university. My favourite part is the extensive range of texts in the library. As a history student, I get really excited about the primary resources that the university has in their special collections section of the library. Probably the worst aspect of my university experience is coping with loneliness. I'm a student who lives at home and commutes to university everyday so making friends is quite difficult when most people are in accommodation together. No matter how hard I try to be social (as an introverted person it is difficult for me) I feel like I can't make many friends. I have joined a couple of societies, but most of the events take place in the evening and transportation isn't available for me to get home so I don't feel safe, therefore I don't go. I have enjoyed every other part of my university experience but loneliness is shadowing my happiness greatly. I'd suggest perhaps more social events in freshers week for joint honours students (seeing as my course is managed through one department, I had only met half of my classmates before I started my lectures which isolated me and other joint honours students straight away). I'd also suggest a social event or group chat for students who live at home so that people feel less isolated. My worst aspect is not the fault of the university in particular but the social side of university could be managed better in this way.

I enjoy travelling to university everyday (it makes me feel like I'm getting my moneys worth). I'm also happy about the amount of contact hours I have both at university and with my tutors. The only part of my course I haven't enjoyed is some of the content, although this is just down to my personal preferences and interests.

Leicester is heaven for a historian. There are so many aspects of history to enjoy. For me, Richard III was the topic that first got me interested in history, so having the chance to study in the city where so much work has been linked to him is just a dream for me. Also, I love fashion and K-Pop. There is a great range of shops for clothes which I adore and totally spend too much money in all the time. Leicester also has a surprising range of Korean culture. There are multiple Korean convenience stores and Korean restaurants to try the cuisine. HMV always have a good stock of K-Pop albums and K-Pop merch which most towns don't have. They get new releases on the day all the way from Korea and often have pre-order or HMV exclusive gifts such as postcards and photocards. I also know of some clubs that have K-Pop themed nights.
