As a Master student, it is easy for me to make friends with students from other Master’s degree courses, especially international ones....

Tell us about your overall university experience so far.

As a Master student, it is easy for me to make friends with students from other Master’s degree courses, especially international ones. I also love that there are always events, public lectures and events going on in the university, so I can maximise my experience. Overall, I would definitely recommend the University of Lincoln to future students.

Job Prospects

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

There are a lot of workshop to increase students' employability from the library and the career office. The university also encourage students to gain the Lincoln Award to help with their employability.

Course and Lecturers

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

In the postgraduate Education program, MA and PhD students share all the modules, and most are mature students who are full-time working professionals. Therefore, students in my course put much effort in their studies, and are focused in class discussion. I can learn a lot from my coursemates, and appreciate the respectful and serious learning environment they create. However, as the course mostly caters for part-time mature students, there is only one 90-minute class per week and 3 study schools throughout the year. Therefore, as a full-time international student, I feel like I am not studying hard enough and am missing out on a lot of learning opportunities if compared to Education courses in other universities.

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

I always feel safe and welcomed Lincoln, and thus feel a sense of home here. The city is small yet wonderfully charming and beautiful, especially with the Steep Hill area. Most places are within walking distance, so it is very convenient, and the walk to the university is always enjoyable.

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

There are so many academic and sports societies for different interests. Therefore, you can always find a community of shared interest if you are looking for one.
