I have greatly enjoyed my experience at the university of derby. I have felt supported academically and personally throughout my time there. Thanks to my time there I feel prepared for employment.

Job Prospects

How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?

The University of Derby has made me aware of the vast range of different career paths that are available to me. All staff have been very helpful and are happy to offer advice and guidance which has prepared me for employment.

Course and Lecturers

What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?

The best part of my course was that all lecturers have a passion for their subject and are experts in their fields.

Students' Union

What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?

I do not personally get involved with the students' union as I am very busy. However I am aware of the wide range of activities available should I wish to participate.

Uni Facilities

How good are your university's facilities?

I think that the University of Derby offers a fantastic range of facilities.

Local life

Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?

Derby is small for a city yet has everything I could wish for, it offers a fantastic range of shops, restaurants and bars.

Societies and Sports

How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?

There are a wide range of clubs and societies with something to offer everyone. The freshers fair is a great place to go and see the variety of the clubs and get to know some of the organisers.

Student Support

How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).

The university has an excellent support system in place for students. Individual academic tutors are assigned to each student to disscuss any academic concerns which may arise and the student wellbeing centre is in place to offer any personal support to all students at the university.
