The campus layout is simple, with lots of maps everywhere so you don't get lost. Staff have always been helpful and the facilities are good. The only improvement I can think of is some of the buildings have confusing layouts. Whilst they have maps of the layout in the entranceway, it can be easy to get lost - they could put the building floor plans on the Uni's app which has campus maps already on it.

This year has been 100% in-class, which has been great. My 1st year was online, and my 2nd year was blended learning, so I have enjoyed being back on campus full-time as it is easier to talk to lecturers and coursemates. It also means I have been able to attend practical classes this year, which we were unable to do in my 1st year and could only watch videos of the lecturers doing the practicals. There is a wide variety of modules to choose, and my tutor has been really helpful and supportive throughout my time at uni. I cannot think of anything that can be improved.

It's rare to find a uni where so much of the student experience is almost perfect, that's why Reading gets 5 stars from me. There are many great facilities, but a couple of older buildings really need renovation. The campus is amazing for mental health, with lots of big trees and open green spaces. The support has been quite good, at least within my department, and the uni has excellent transport links while still being walkable distances from any services you might need for daily life. Student life has been good, excluding the pandemic. The students' union itself is a bit awkward and there are management problems, but the union building is a great place to come to during lunch and I enjoy participating in the student union societies.

It's an amazing department. Not every lecturer is good, but a lot are exceptional people that I'm glad to have teaching me. There's a lot of contact time and the department gives direct access to part-time work in the industry, as well as lots of summer/year-long industrial placement opportunities. The best part of all is that at the end of the degree, graduates from my department have some of the best career prospects for any department in the world.

Needs better internet reliability (it's super fast when it works!), and there are minor issues with mould in some of the rooms (mostly just around the windows) as is normal in an old building. Sherfield is safe for students - however bikes are not safe unless stored in your room (regularly stolen from the "secure" bike store). Additionally, the halls team kinda objects to storing bikes in rooms. Despite these issues, it's comparatively cheap and fixed-cost, all the rooms are roughly equal (but you can't choose which room you get), and it's in a quiet location far-removed from traffic. Sherfield is my first choice if I come back to halls again.
