The facilities are fantastic at the Penryn campus. There is a 24/7 library with multiple floors, a quiet zone, and a help desk. There is also a gym and outdoor spaces, along with a bar and pool table. At first the location was hard to adjust to, being so out of the way, but I have grown to love it with the sea and community feel. Student support is fantastic; there is mental support, financial support, and academic support, just to mention a few. The SU also offers support and events like free soup Friday. To conclude, my personal experience of student life has been superb. I have found a lovely group of friends, I enjoy my course, and I have a job that I enjoy.

I love how my course (BA/BSc Geography) offers both human and physical modules, meaning that we only have to decide between human and physical when it comes to our dissertation. This allowed me to explore both sides of geography while I was still unsure which route I wanted to take.

Despite the Cornwall prices, I had a very positive experience in university halls. Despite applying late in clearing, I still got my first choice and some of my flatmates ended up becoming some of my closest friends. With multiple layers of security at the Sidings I always felt very safe, and the front desk staff could not be more welcoming. Despite the Sidings not being on campus, I didn't feel like that was an issue for my academic success. It was a 20 minute walk from campus, and there was a bus stop right outside. The only time I wasn't fond of the location was on a night out when I then had to make it back to Penryn, however, there is also a train station right outside.

Exeter is a great place to study as it has many new facilities, such as high tech computer labs, which have aided my skillset within my course. Additionally, it has a wide range of sport facilities on the campus. The campus is full or green life making it a pleasant and relaxing place to be and study. An improvement that could be made would to extend the size of the gym as it can get very busy and update the equipment within the gym.

My course has been taught completely in-person. The jump to second year in terms of contact hours is very large and it does not get addressed to you how much more scientific based the course becomes once you enter second year. I went from an average of 9 hours of contact hours in year 1 to 18 hours of contact hours in term 1 of second year, This is due to having 2 compulsory computing modules (GIS and numerical methods) which include new computer practical's every week which usually require overtime. At first I found these modules very frustrating and difficult as I am no computer expert but I know that these skills will boost my CV and could be very beneficial in future career paths.

I was in the shared bathroom for East Park which I couldn't recommend more as it is much cheaper than the en-suite option and most other accommodations on campus. You only have to share a bathroom with one person and as the bathrooms are classed as a communal space they get cleaned once a week (which en-suites do not). They also come in very handy if you are hosting a flat party as they are easily accessible and no need to let anyone into your rooms. East Park also has a reception on site which is very useful at sorting out any issues with your accommodation quickly. The kitchen included plenty of storage and was newly furbished. Bills are all included which is a life saver when it comes to heating in the winter!
