Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
At first, it was hard to get used to studying part time, I was worried it was going to struggle to fit in as I wasn't there all the time. However, with the support of the uni and events run by the SU, I have really enjoyed my university experience so far.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
For me, the tech park has all of the facilities that I need.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Since starting, I have felt as though my lecturers have offered me with the needed support. We do have personal tutors that we meet regularly to discuss how uni life is going etc. There are also drop ins for my lectures where you can catch up on work with help of lecturers.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Really good. They've made me feel welcome and provide excellent events. They represent students across all parts of the uni.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
It is the perfect distance from the beach and town. I feel like I can easily access everything I need, especially as the uni provides a free bus between campuses.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I like how the sessions are taught clearly in a way that helps everyone to understand and there is always time at the end to talk to lecturers if something was not understood. Although we have unofficial breaks, I do sometimes struggle with concentrating the whole of a 3 hour lecture.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
7
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
They hold career fairs and have a pop up careers stand allowing students access to advice and help. I feel like my lecturers are approachable and will help if I needed careers advice.
