Good experience overall. Covid restrictions has limited a lot of things on the course that would normally be in place e.g. placements cancelled, less clinical time as an operator as paired up on the clinic. However, this is not the University's fault and I think the Dental Academy have done a good job in keeping students and patients safe this year. With theoretical teaching there are some benefits to online learning/blended learning, although I do prefer in-person teaching overall and would not recommend online teaching the next year if possible.

Best aspects are the fantastic resources available. At the dental academy and generally such as the library. Lots of support services available too. Worst aspect was adjusting to student life as a mature student away from home. I found it isolating and it affected my mental health at times.

Everything at UPDA is fantastic. Great teachers, and lectures are blended and engaging. Phantom head facilities help introduce you safety to build skills in first year. Lots of time on clinics with patients every week in 2nd and 3rd year. Run very efficiently and lots of equipment available to offer the best care.

Great seaside location with a busy city feel. Great transport links across country. Some areas of deprivation by guildhall. But generally safe and an active police presence.

I lived in shared in 1st year which was fun but not to my taste as a mature student. I lived in studio alone in 2nd and 3rd year and it’s spacious, has a sea view, is quiet and has everything I need. Having bills included means I didn’t have to worry about increases based on use.
