Spending the last three years at Aberystwyth University has been a memorable and enriching chapter of my life. The town itself is a hidden gem it is quiet, clean, and incredibly calming. The location of the university is nothing short of breathtaking, perched above the town with stunning views of the sea. I’ll always remember the peaceful moments spent in the library, looking out over the coastline.
Student life here has been a mixed experience for me. While I eventually found the information I needed about my degree, it came quite late in my journey. Whether that was due to a lack of awareness on my part or a gap in the system, I’m still not entirely sure. However, I can’t fault the lecturers I had, they were consistently responsive and supportive. Their communication was excellent, always quick to reply to emails, and they delivered lectures in a way that was engaging and open to feedback. That said, not all lecturers were equally flexible, but the majority made a genuine effort.
The university provides excellent resources, and I always felt well-equipped to pursue my studies. One area for improvement, in my opinion, would be the delivery of the law program. A more practical approach could greatly enhance students' understanding and future success.
Overall, I’ve had a positive experience at Aber. I would definitely recommend it, especially to students who are self-motivated and enjoy a quieter, more independent lifestyle. Aberystwyth may be small, but it offers a unique charm and a strong sense of community that I’ve come to truly appreciate.

One of the best aspects of my course was the quality and approachability of the lecturers. Many of them were excellent at communicating, always quick to respond to emails and willing to clarify anything I didn’t understand. A real highlight was their openness to feedback, some were happy to adapt their teaching based on what students needed, which made a big difference to the learning experience. The resources available throughout the course were also top-notch and easily accessible, which really helped with my independent study.
On the other hand, one of the more challenging parts of the course was the structure and clarity of the degree overall. I only really understood the full scope of the course and its requirements in my final year, which made it harder to plan and make informed decisions earlier on. It wasn’t always clear where to find certain key information. I also feel that the course could benefit from more practical and hands-on ways of teaching e.g., mooting opportunities in lecture settings, especially for a subject like law, this could really help bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.
Despite these challenges, I enjoyed the course and appreciated the support I received. A few structural changes could really take the course to the next level.
