The best aspect of my Uni experience (so far) has to be the communication with my lecturers. The Uni feels like a small village and community, and the teachers make sure that they’re included in that whilst being conscious of each student. Having been ill on multiple occasions since starting Uni in September 2023, missing lessons one to three weeks each time, I’ve spent a good amount of time isolating myself - unfortunate to say the least. However, my lecturers have all been support and have shown their care for our aspirations - they emailed me to make sure I was doing okay, and whether I needed any help with the course. The worst aspect of my Uni experience would have to be the assignments. I’ve never been good completing exams within a small time frame - I’m slow to process written information, and my writing speed is “below average” - so it wouldn’t surprise me if I couldn’t do the same at University; luckily, my course doesn’t include me sitting down for a timed written examination. However, the problem is only made worse when the gap between assignments is small. For semester one, I had four assignments due - two of them were due four days after the other two. And when it comes to planning, writing and developing assignment essays, my multitasking skills lack a lot. The lecturers do offer assistance and etc, but it’s still hard a hard time to get through.

The best aspects of my course are the feelings of individuality and expression that are openly shared with a secure group of people. On my course, every is made to feel special - we aren’t treated as students, we are treated as actual, genuine writer. I’ve been able to hold onto the styles and genres I enjoy writing with/in whilst exploring an array of different kinds of literature. It’s interesting, but, most excitingly, it’s a challenge. The worst aspects of my course are the module selections. Don’t get me wrong, I have enjoyed the modules I’m researching through and being taught; however, there are one or two modules that could do with re-evaluating. To me, they don’t seem 100% necessary. As well as this, some of the material we are advised to read under some of the modules include books/passages that could be triggering to other students - it was discussed in a lesson (that I didn’t actually need to be in) and everyone agreed on the subject.

What I like most about my Uni hall is my bedroom. Compared to my room back home, this room is definitely more spacious and independent - it feels like MY room. As someone that has a lot of clothing, it was great to see that there’s space to fit things - from the chest of drawers to the wardrobe itself. My bathroom is really nice. Of course it’s small but it’s also comfortable, and I have a place for my toiletries and hygiene products. The desk space is spectacular; with a room in a corner of the building, I’m happy to get a nice angled view out of my window whilst I work, watch TV, or play video games. The kitchen in my Uni hall is small, due to the fact that every student in this building is catered for - “no need for a bigger kitchen when you’re not gonna need to cook for yourself” is the logic that’s been applied. Despite that, it is easy to access and comes with good storage space. The least liked thing about my Uni hall is, internet connection/service. It’s not something that I’m gonna keel over and then die because of. But it is something that is annoying to have to put up with. When I’m studying, it’s better that I sit at my desk by the window due to a better internet connection there; however, when I want to sit in bed a do some work, I always have to shift myself or check my laptop’s settings because the internet connection either drops or is weak. But nothing can beat trying to connect to the washing machines in the laundry building. It’s a hassle waking over with the internet connected, setting the machine as the connection drops, having to walk back to my hall’s front door to get the connection again, and then sprinting back to the machine I loaded to press start before the connection fails… again.

I love how homely Chichester University feels. As someone who works at the Student's Union, working there and going out there has got to be the highlight of my Uni experience because of all the amazing people I have met. If I were to suggest something for the Uni to improve upon I would maybe suggest allowing the library to be open 24/7 all the time as I have often found the need to do work there but am unable to because it iz closed. Overall a great uni experience.

As much as I love my course I would have liked there to be more contact time. Understandably because of the pandemic work internships and placements have not been available, and as much as I know this isn't the University's fault I would have liked to be able to experience this. Overall I have really enjoyed my course.
