Despite the challenging circumstances my tutors have all done an amazing job in making sure that our experience is the best it can be, and make sure that we still learn as much as possible. I’ve learnt so much this year and really been shown where I can take the is degree afterwards in regards to employment.

All classrooms are clean and technology seems to be up to date. Especially during the pandemic, my university has done very well in making sure classrooms maintain a level of cleanliness and everything is routinely sanitised. Classrooms are spacious to allow students to social distance properly during lectures.

All students are signed up to TogetherAll for free as of the start of March 2020 which provides 24/7 advice and the ability to contact mental health professionals. I have not used many support services so I am unable to comment effectively on this. We do have disability access around campus.

Due to the Pandemic my learning is blended between online and in-class. All online learning is mainly through live lectures with tutors, and though it isn’t quite the same as being in the classroom they try their best to make the experience as engaging as possible and I definitely have learned just as much as I would have in the classroom. They have done really well despite the difficult circumstances this year. My tutors are always very quick to respond to emails and have set up one-to-one sessions with me to help with assignments and give feedback.

We have a Facebook group where career opportunities are constantly shared. All modules (in the second year) have at least one class dedicated to employment within the chosen subject - e.i. For my ‘writing for education’ module I was given many ideas for where I can find employment, including teaching creative writing in prisons, in school settings, or how to set up community workshops. We were shown resources and ways to find work within these sectors, and had guest speakers from people who had worked in a secondary school and provided creative writing workshops in school settings, and people who have taught, and are currently teaching, creative writing in prisons.

The tutors are knowledgeable.

I much prefer learning in person.
