Best aspects: Inner city Close to accommodation Good work load

Feel like there’s too much demand in the course, long days and heavy work load, can be overwhelming and unmotivating. Although this does push you as a student, however causing me lots of stress.

I like my halls

The tutors are understanding and supportive. They treat us as equals , and focus on both the positives of our work as well as the criticism, which is always valuable. We are encouraged to put our work out there and are supported in our writing endeavours outside of uni as well as inside. The uni is comfortable and welcoming and they are always setting up opportunities for trips, visiting professionals and collaborations with other courses. I feel safe to be myself and know I am valued there. They are always trying to prepare us for writing life outside uni with talks from publishers and people in the writing industry. My criticism would be a bit more space specific to the creative writing course would be nice, especially as the other courses in third year have studio space. My main gripe, however, is that after this year I'll have to leave. I've done so much and grown so much as a person and a writer. I know I'll remember it as one of the best times of my life.

We're in person full time now. I think it would be good to have the option still of being online, as a lot of people have health issues like chronic illnesses, that make it difficult to be in person all the time. Then it means they don't miss out on course content because of something they can't help. Of course if they're too sick, then they wouldn't do either. We see our tutors plenty and they're always happy to sort out one on ones if we need a bit more support. With it being a small course, they can give us lots of individual attention. We don't have internships or work placements but it's not really needed, and writing jobs are not that simple. We're given lots of sessions from people in the writing industry and are constantly sent places to send our work to. The course content is very practical, which is great and lends itself to an arts uni.

Because of moving during COVID, we couldn't use the social areas but that couldn't be helped. The space was good value for money, the staff friendly and it was close to uni.
