Uni life at Kingston is just awesome. My lecturers and professors are enthusiastic and helpful. They wish to help all the students they have. Rich with diversity, I never feel out of place. We have great clubs and I am part of the LGBT+ society as well as the KU Jiu-Jitsu club. We also have communities for Creative Writing, Mental Health, Capoeira, Games and Anime, Indian, Korean students, etc. As an international student, as well as a queer person of colour, I feel that my identity is accepted and acknowledged. There is much to do apart from studies here. We have our gym, dance studios and an art studio where we can sell our artworks. We have great events on campus and you may even get some free stuff just by sharing a story on Instagram, etc. We recently had a baking sale as well as a thrift sale at the Penrhyn campus, where I felt elated to find a Calvin Klein coat for only £10! Not to mention, we have great student bars/cafes on each of our campuses like the Picton or the Knight's Park bar. We have a great library and a beautiful location at the very heart of Kingston upon Thames. Our buses that run from Mon-Fri, 7.45 am to 12 am, are free for us students and staff and connect our uni accommodations to the campuses, the town centre and Surbiton station. To help with employment, we have our Careers and Employability service as well as a platform known as Handshake. We also have various job opportunities on the campuses as well as accommodations which pay £9.50 - £12.50 per hour. The work has flexible hours and since it is at uni itself, you won't have to miss any of your lectures /workshops/club activities. As students or recent graduates, we have access to a free crowdfunding platform for our projects and business ideas known as the KU Backer. The annual KU Bright Ideas Competition, for all student/recent graduate ideas and projects provides its winners prizes of £250-£1000. Kingston University is a great place to earn your degree. It's fun, diverse, accepting and has many opportunities for you to develop your skills and also to grow as a person.

For our studies, we have a more hands-on approach to learning with writing programmes in Java/Python, designing and building prototypes of apps, creating and presenting pitches for our ideas and more. As Computer Science/Games students, we have access to a VR/augmented reality room called the Cave in the later years of our studies. We can access our timetables, assignments, recorded lectures grades and syllabus through an online platform called Canvas. Lectures are recorded and are both online and on-campus, depending on the module. We have one lecture (1-3 hrs) and one 3 hr workshop a week for each of our lectures. Our lecturers are amazing and fun. The first year module leader is fun and enthusiastic. Contact details of all lecturers can be found on Canvas and they are just an email or phone call away. I've gotten quick responses from them, even at 12.30 am! You can also meet them personally (if they are available) during office hours. Each student is assigned a personal tutor who can help you out with your studies and may even be one of your lecturers. In case you missed tests/assignments due to some problem, you can apply for mitigating circumstances. If approved, you can sit for them at the end of the academic year. You also have a 24 hour grace period for your assignments, literally extending your deadline by a day (which has saved me every time!) It's efficient, convenient and fun to study at Kingston University.
