One of the three main reasons why I decided to study at Essex (a part of my course structure) was 2) the rewarding opportunity that I can approach by taking part in any of the most diversified communities at UoE, and 3) the great variety of sports activities offered to everybody. I found my second motivation when I met the Great community of the SU during the welcome week. To be part of the SU became one of my goals during my trajectory at Essex, because since I was doing my undergraduate studies in Mexico, I gained a fascinating insight into societies consisting of only students. Actually, I never missed the chance to belong to a society of that kind and during my last years of university, I was involved in the society of students participating in international activities, especially those that required the use of the English Language. Now, as a University of Essex student, I have another exclusive opportunity to continue representing students through the SU. Finally, as an International Student, I would like to have more opportunities to get a part-time job. Actually, I have used the services of the Career Hub to get one, however, I consider that our University could make agreements with local companies in order to offer vacancies and apply for that directly.

During my first term at Essex in the M.Sc. in Finance and Data Analytics, I found the core structure regarding econometrics and research methods in finance as very complete as it was expected. The Lecturers contribute to the field not only by giving us the material, most of them share their professional experiences from their previous experience and that makes the class so much richer. However, there was just one thing regarding the classroom that we have problems to take the class. It was too big and cold, but we expressed that issue and the university provided us support to fix it. We spent some classes there with problems with the audio and temperature, and finally we moved to another classroom.

It takes me to arrive to the main campus 20 min or less, which is very important to me because I can spend more time at the Uni. For instance, I go to the gym, I take extracurricular classes, I go to the library and I have joined to social clubs. I feel safe at night walking to my accommodation because it is well illuminated, and it is supervised regularly. The only thing as I mentioned before is the problem with heaters.

I love the place where my residence is allocated, it is very quiet and the view from the top is amazing as well. Sometimes you had to spend too much time there, so the view and the amenities are important. The furniture is good-looking, and the University provided you with the essentials, but you have to pay for it. In contrast, general services I would rate with 3 stars, especially heaters, they were failing. During the first two months I arrived there, we reported many times to fix the heaters or the electricity in the kitchen's fridges. In January, the coolest month, we have presented fewer issues related to that but eventually they persist.

The campus is next to nothing very limited number of students you'll get know almost everybody by the end of first semester and then that's it nothing new to explore in the area.

No problem with the course content.

The buildings itself don't look as they are shown on the website and it is always under construction which makes it not so eye pleasing.
