The best thing about the institution itself is how helpful staff members are. Typically when emailing for help I’ll get a reply within the week, mostly the next day. Lectures are recorded online, which is really helpful if you get sick and can’t attend. I really like how the learning is hybrid too, though some modules I’d prefer in-person. The learning platform (Blackboard) makes it easy to find resources for extra reading and to look back on content for revision. What I don’t like is how confusing the building is to navigate, with very little signage. Maps would definitely be helpful! Overall, I’ve had a really good experience with Aston so far!

Hybrid learning is a massive help, with lectures being recorded online available for playback and in-person lectures allowing for on-the-spot questions and feedback. My timetable in computer science means I have quite a free week in terms of scheduled sessions, but we have a platform that enables us to book one on one sessions for extra programming or maths help, which is great! Lecturers reply to emails fairly quickly too, so there’s no worry of falling behind while waiting for a response. I’m happy with how the course is being delivered for the most part.
