It has been a good experience so far. COVID has definitely made it harder to enjoy but I personally like my course and the support so far has been great. Would definitely recommend the university.

The university is very good for abled students. Loads of barriers for disabled students, unfortunately. There is a lot of student support but on that same line of thought, students have to largely self-advocate for their needs. The campuses are all very nice and kept up to date well. The students unions are both cheap and welcoming for those who don't work there. Unfortunately managers make the students Union uncomfortable as a social space for the students who work in there. There needs to be easier access and more space to make constructive criticism of the courses. Joint honours students aren't looked after by one of their subjects. I am looked after by the maths team but my problems lie largely in the computer science side of my course, so advocating for changes is very difficult. I am on placement and there was a lot that I needed to learn very quickly. I did not feel prepared for working life at all and there are no modules that assist with that for joint honours students. I have been advocating for these modules to be available to us for 2 years now.

A lot of my course is inaccessible. I am a joint honours student and I can't advocate for half of my course very easily as I am seen as a student of the other side. Contact with course teams has been limited due to the pandemic, it has been very difficult to keep up with my course due to this. Complaints fall on deaf ears a lot with excuses made for poor teaching along the lines of "they've been teaching for years", etc etc. There is little to no support for students outside of academia who are on joint honours courses - a lot of staff claim that when a student isn't in their department they can't do anything and then the staff in the students department can't do anything because it's not their department.
