UWTSD features rooms purpose built for games design- modern computers and various physical and software examples of games from across the ages to analyse and study. These rooms, however, are frequently taken up by other courses that do not need them, making accessing these purpose built facilities outside of lecture hours difficult.

As stated previously, facilities are great, they are just not accessible half of the time due to being taken up by other courses that don't need them. There are many opportunities to work with your peers on various relevant assignments and projects, with the right people you will develop life long bonds and potential future game making partners. However, come the third year, the modules on the course no longer reflect the title, instead becoming generic digital media modules with no focus on games design. Some tutors teaching these modules are still learning the content themselves, making the decision to run these irrelevant modules feel even more thoughtless. It feels like the last two years have built up to nothing, and has frankly been a waste of £27000 in tuition. The only opportunity to work on any directly games related skills are in your independent project, meaning you have very limited room after the second year to experiment with anything new and hone your skills to an industry standard. I feel I will complete this course with an utterly meaningless degree, and nothing of industry standard to show for it. This course is very much a 'get out what you put in' sort of deal, unless you do it yourself you will not cover industry standard modelling software z-brush, you will not be taught much more than how to active a door in unreal, you will not have made anything close to a 'game' with a way to win or lose.
