Good deal for what it's worth

The best aspects of my uni experience have been the standard of teaching and the assignment style. I think every module I have done has been really organised. The use of blackboard and emails is really well put together. I know exactly where to look for everything I need. Another good aspect is that there’s no pressure for fitting into a group, I am quite shy and socially introverted, and so it is a blessing that I can come in and study and attend lectures without feeling as though I need to worry about socialising as well. Everyone seems to be kind and understanding of eachother. There are lots of individuals like myself that don’t attend lectures or seminars with anyone else. It has helped develop my confidence in talking to people I don’t know as I’m more self-accepting and aware that we are all in the same boat. It’s a really good atmosphere (in my opinion). I think it’s clear too that the tutors have our best interests at heart and actually want us to succeed. I also love the new buildings, it gives the uni a professional and modern feel. One of my favourite things is the ability to go to open lectures about anything. I study psychology, but last week I went to a talk about astrophysics and learnt all about a telescope. These events are good places to network if you want to, or just learn about something interesting that maybe you wouldn’t usually look into. My only feedback for improvement would be the use of old buildings or architecture. For example, during graduation it would be nice to celebrate with old buildings as well as the new ones. I sometimes feel like the red carpet in front of the modern building makes the graduation look abit cheap. Whereas maybe if it was surrounded by an old building or not with a red carpet it would look abit more tasteful.

The online / in class balance of learning is really good in my opinion. It would be nice if all tutors recorded lectures and in person attendance wasn’t always mandatory (for example, if a deadline is due and time would be better spent doing an assignment rather than attending lectures for assignments in the future). Contact with lecturers is really good, they are all very generous with their time and always seem to be willing to talk or offer advice.
