It's an amazing place to study, the courses are really interesting.

My overall university experience so far has been amazing. I was quite nervous when I first came to university. However, I really enjoyed all my courses, met a lot of different people and made friends, also got involved in university. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the people are and I always talk about it to my family and friends. Now that I am in third year I have become even more involved with joining sports clubs and societies and working for the university. I really enjoy the city life as well and just generally living in the city. I really believe that I made the right choice and I am very happy.

There are a lot of opportunities to go abroad to gain crucial experiences in labs for example. Additionally, for some courses you can apply for a year in industry as well, which allows you to gain important skills that would increase your employability. For my course (Molecular and Cellular Biology) there is a lot of lab work involved, which helps with gaining and improving lab skills. Some courses/degrees have field trips involved that helps with this. There are services that help with CVs and interview practices too.

My course is very interactive with lots of lab time. Therefore, a lot of lab skills can be learned alongside the lectures. Additional computer programming skills can be picked up. I don't like the fact that the lectures aren't recorded in third year. I find recordings to be quite a good revision source.

I am only a member of one of the student unions: The Glasgow University Union (GUU) but there's also the Queen Margaret Union (QMU). I got involved with the union because of the events that they host and they have really good food. I am also planning to get involved with the QMU. The only reason I didn't is because I am quite busy with my schedule.

University facilities are really good. The cafeterias offer a huge variety of food. There's different cafes for warm and cold (food-to-go) foods. The staff are really efficient and friendly. Additionally the university gym is really nice. There is the gym itself, which has all the right equipment but also the sports halls where you can play badminton, basketball, volleyball etc. Additionally, the swimming pool is great as well. The gym also offer free gym classes such as dancing or yoga for those who have the membership. I have been very satisfied with all the university's facilities and what they have to offer.

The city life is amazing. The people are really really nice. One of my favourite aspects is the variety of food available. There are so many different cuisines and all the restaurants I have been to have been great. There is so much culture integrated in the city. The night life is also great and I am very comfortable with going out. There is public transport that can be used to take into the city centre. However, there is the west end of the city, which is like a mini city centre and you can get almost everything there as well. This is a great aspect for students, since the university is in the west end.

There are a huge variety of clubs and societies. The university offers a huge range of sports, both recreationally and competitively. I was surprised when I saw they had skydiving and scuba diving. They also have drop in sessions for many sports in the gym so anyone can come along and join or try it out. There are just as many societies ranging from languages to art to sciences etc. They are all very welcoming and helpful and it is great to be able to feel a part of something.

Overall the support offered by the uni is excellent. There are rare occasions when the academic support, more specifically the feedback is lacking a little. However, if this occurs then you can just email and ask to meet to sort through your work to see how you can improve. The personal support seems great as well. I know of the personal support such as counseling and that it is available and the processes so I am well informed.
