I have completed my time at the university and can honestly say that I would not have wanted to have been anywhere else. The people, the staff and facilities provide an experience and culture that is one of a kind and I believe is only available at this university. I came out academically exceeding all of my expectations, not only in my results but in how much I would be prepared and motivated to work for something. Further, in terms of my network of friends and acquaintance - I don’t think I will every be without a friendly face wherever I go in the world after being at Exeter.

As a business student, the facilities at Exeter are second to none. I’d use the business school, the forum and library which are all recently built. The only complaint is that there are not enough study spaces in the business school or forum to cater for all the students. There are however other locations one may go.

The level of support at Exeter comes from how much you put into it. It is offered by pretty much everyone and anyone and therefore you have to just ask. I have never had one person deny me for support or feedback with many lectures going beyond their role in helping me with things such as my CV. At one point I was also going through a hard time in my personal life and didn’t realise how much I just needed to tell someone until I had a meeting with a counsellor in the business school. They were incredibly sympathetic, listened and provided guidance if I needed any additional support. I didn’t in the end because I felt like having that one person to tell was enough for me to move forward.

The students union do a lot at Exeter University and I’m sure impact in many ways that students don’t necessarily realise. I’m content with the work that they are doing and therefore don’t see it as something I’d directly be interested in getting involved in. However, they do run events that I attend and provide study spaces I find very useful, therefore indirectly feel I am involved by using their services.

Exeter is a student city. It is relatively small but has enough going on for the students to throughly enjoy and enough to show parents around when they come to visit. There are ample of good restaurants and bars and has many of the key high street stores.

Clubs and societies at Exeter is something I believe to be done better than any other UK university. Every student is welcome and can get involved in one of the hundreds of societies. There is a fair that is held at the beginning of each year and what has been achieved by all the students in terms of running all the clubs is truly amazing. Being a member of multiple sports societies, on the committee for one and also a memeber of academic societies I can say that my time at Exeter would not have been the same without them. They provide incredible access to not only meeting new people and friends but also employers through networking events and guest presentations. There really is something for everyone.

What I like most about the courses is that the more you put in the more you get out of the course. All lectures I had were there for extra support when you need it and really want you to succeed. Even though lectures can be taught in classes of hundreds, you can still get to know your lecturer or tutor on a personal level through tutorials or office hours. This means you can take away as much as you like from a specific course. The Exeter learning environment also makes it incredibly easy to access all course content and information which is a great asset to a students learning. Despite it being the aspect I like the most about the way courses are taught at Exeter, due to the large amount of students that can be on courses it does allow for those with less drive and motivation to occasionally fall through the cracks, and not reach their full potential. However, a step to helping this, some lecturers take registered tutorials that demand attendance.

From the first day at the university of Exeter they have promoted the careers zone. For me this was a place I could go to check my cv, boost my employability and look for jobs or internships. They helped me a great deal through providing guildlines on what steps I should be taking to secure my dream job. Not only was this service available to the whole university but also held a branch purely accessible to business school students. They provided tailor services and materials that would be specifically of interest to a business school student. In addition to the career zone, there was so much additional support and focus on boosting employability at Exeter. This compromised of countless additional courses you could take to boost your transferable skills such as advanced excell to coding (a couple I have personally taken). Further, there were also courses and lectures students could take to help with the application processes and interviews.
