I have really, really enjoyed my experience at Leeds City College so far and look forward to my time there with excitement. I am enjoying my course very much despite any of the little niggles I mentioned previously and l will be quite disappointed to finish at the end of the year. But hopefully this loss will be made up for with a good outcome.

Not bad. The new building has a lovely facade and landscaping and a really good aspect being situated close to the city markets, bus and coach stations and shops. I like some of the facilities provided particularly the cafe area but one irritation is that there aren't enough toilets really. My course is situated on the 2nd floor and there are no toilets on our floor so we have to go up to Level 3 which are unisex and not at all nice, or to the one on the first/ground floor which is disabled and hard to find if you didn't know it was there. Although I'm used to the floor I'm on now and I like it, it would have been nice to have been higher up with a view of the city which would've offered great inspiration for us would-be artists! The rooms are nice and big with huge almost floor to ceiling windows which are great for light but not so good for airing the space as the windows can't be opened even a little bit. Now this is okay in the winter when the weather's bad and you don't want to get air in, but it's going to be awful during the hotter times as it will be quite stuffy. If there were some ceiling fans or something that might've helped. When we first arrived, the temperature veered from absolutely freezing to boiling hot. Although that's settled a bit, it is still unpredictable temperature wise. I love the lecture theatre: good seating, views, acoustics; would have been nice to have another one. Through careful readjustment of furniture, we have been able to carve out our own spaces and are able to leave things to a certain extent (lockers have been provided too which is great) though more purpose-built work spaces would've been even better. Finally, I feel that the library/learning resource centre could've been given much more prominence. It is too small really and not what it should be: a place to do some quiet study with desks, good lighting and other facilities as well as books and computers. This is what I have generally experienced in other universities and colleges and in this respect, it would have been invaluable asset to the college facilities as the studio space where I currently study in tends to get a bit noisy at times. Despite all of the above, I think the college is a great place to study and am enjoying every minute of being there.

As previously commented support offered by the tutors and feedback given is really very good but none of us are really aware of any personal support available i.e. counselling, study issues etc.

What I like most about my course is taught is: the friendliness and approachable nature of both the teaching and non-teaching staff. The tutorials are interesting and enjoyable and the staff are helpful and supportive. What I like least about the way my course is taught is: the unpredictability of the timetable, the scarcity of resources and the haphazard nature of any extra-curricular activities.

As is per the name of the course, Art Enterprise, this course is very good at gearing it's students towards employment in the Art World. Although there's been nothing specific so far in terms of seeing a careers officer or doing a work placement, the course includes a lot of opportunities to experience different work options. There are also lectures and workshops from visiting speakers who are working artists and other people who work in the art and media sectors. The course also guides us very well in terms of how to market oneself as an artist in terms of the advice given and the projects allocated.

Really enjoy studying at Leeds City College University Centre, every member of staff always there to help. Really polite and kind. Easy access to library.
