Even though it was abruptly stopped by the pandemic, my university life has still been the best few years of my life. At uni, there is always support if you need it, whether it is academic, or emotional support. There is always a friend group for someone whoever you are.

It has been more stressful due to it being final year, but the course content has been interesting and it’s good to see it all come together. I’m glad now sports clubs have been able to start again, I have more social commitments. I’m looking forward to summer ball!! However the lack of lab time and college events mean that this year has felt like paying for stuff that’s not happening.

Great lab facilities, half a gulf hood each and lots of bench space. Large clean lecture halls, though éther desk space can be a bit small. Decent amount of study space in the library and separate study spaces nearby too. Not sure how accessible most lecture halls are though, there tends to be lots if stairs and hills.

College welfare officers are lovely. There is department support and uni wife as well as college. I don’t have that much experience with it though so can’t say much.

In non-covid times it was mostly large lectures with approx one tutorial (5 people) per week and labs every other week. There’s more contact time in first year, maybe 20h per week. Most lecturers are friendly and are happy to answer questions after lectures, by email or in office hours. The online lectures this year dur to covid have been a mixed bag. Having prerecorded lectures for chemistry this year have been so much better, but the biology lectures seem to be more content packed into a shorter time.

Lots of careers emails. Careers support staff are helpful. Lots of opportunities for specific jobs like banking, accounting, lab roles, TeachFirst, etc. Not a massive range. Informative guest seminars especially for biology with 1 or2 per week.
