The campus has a community like feel, lots of student engagement and regular opportunities to keep yourself fed well but cheaply like £1.50 breakfasts, veg markets and street food markets. All teaching staff are happy to engage during/after lectures and always encourage students to seek their help if needed. The law school has some well recognised and very talented teachers, and they are recognised in the community of Reading, with lots of internship and work experience opportunities provided, along with this and their RED award it is easy to find something to make yourself stand out. The student union isn’t great, bar occasionally closes early and in itself it’s just a small uninviting room, but all the other student facilities are great.

Teachers are very happy to engage with students, it doesn’t have a stuffy traditional law school feel, they actively encourage students seek help. All the teachers are extremely knowledgeable, and generally good at presenting a vast amount of knowledge during lectures in an interesting way, there are 1 or 2 exceptions. The contact hours are good, and it is easy to schedule more time with tutors if necessary. The lectures are made available online 90% of the time, if not lectures are also supplemented with helpful handouts. The teaching is overall extremely good, the only thing that could improve the course would be more engagement from fellow students.The small classes provide opportunities to discuss lecture material in groups of 10-20, very few engage with this and prepare which can sometimes make them feel like a waste of time, if you are one of two people that has prepared. That is not to say the sessions are not extremely helpful and fully appreciated, it would just be great to see a different attitude from a lot of the student body.

The lecturers and the school facilities for studying, such as the library and quiet environment, are excellent. The lecturers are experts in their field and they teach as if it’s their life goal to help you assimilate what they teach, understand it and be able to apply it in your life. The academic tutors also help students who might be going through one or two challenges. For improvements, I’ll say the school of law should consider a mix of business courses because law is a profession, but also a business.

The best aspect of my course is that the lecturers are well learned, the worst aspects could be that some lecturers might not upload their slides prior to the class, while this can help you read wide, it could also help in focused study, given the bulkiness of what is to be understood.

I love the management, it is top notch. What I do not like is the adherence to the contract periods. For instance, a student will not be allowed to rent the hall at a certain time of the year because it is considered “bad business” for the university. I experienced it and I was not pleased.
