The thing I love the most about Keele is the level of support you receive from your teachers. Because it’s a smaller university, teachers are able to have numerous 1-1 meetings with you. Additionally, for fellow introverts, the small ‘village esque’ campus is quite comforting and it truly is beautiful as you have the prettiest view of Keele House and it’s surrounding area. I don’t drink so I’m not able to tell you how the SU is for a ‘night out’ but I’ve been there when going to my Craft Society meetings and it was okay, hearing from other friends who do go, it’s satisfactory. For other people who don’t drink, there really isn’t much to do as there are a lot of pubs and clubs.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Keele. I’ve been achieving the highest grades with consistent firsts/high 2:1’s. This is due to the support you receive from your lecturers and tutors. Lecturers always give you their resources to help you fully understand things and they’re happy to meet as many times as you’d like. Additionally, the 24 hour exams are a life saver. They’re so much better than traditional exams, where people can underperform in a daunting sports hall. You can sit these exams from the comfort of your home. Things that could be improved are lectures as they could be more interactive but most universities have lectures where teachers just talk at you. Even if it’s not interactive, they could slow down instead of promptly going through things. With my placement year search, I’ve had a lot of support from the placement officer.

As Stoke/Newcastle under Lyme is a small area, there’s not much to do. They only have the branded coffee shops e.g. Costa and Caffè Nero’s etc, no cute little ones. The shopping mall in Hanley is okay but it’s an unsettling environment. There isn’t much to do around here, especially if you don’t drink.
