Love it. Met friends for life, feel like I've learnt a lot of information since enrolling and really matured as an individual thanks to Hallam. Definitely more employable as a result, feeling confident to go into starting my career following gradutation.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
Cant fault them. Outstanding libraries on both campus', clean buildings with plenty of toilets, cafes and equipment to take advantage of. Lots of hotspots for students to work from and socialise at. Student union had a bar. Can't complain.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Fantatsic. I never used the personal support services but I was made aware of them. Tutors were always great at giving feedback, especially during corona virus and the difficult circumstances
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
My student reps were more or less unheard of until my final year, when I was frequently in the loop about what was going on and being discussed. The meetings were open for anyone to attend
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
Yes, definitely. City campus was where I was based, plenty of accomodations around, mine was one of the further ones. Clubs, bars and everything was accessible. Supermarkets and gyms were also local.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
I never really joined any, but did attend theopen day to sign up. There was a wide variety of societies to sugn up to, some that youd never realyl think was a society. So for all interets and hobbies Im sure there was something
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
Pros: All in one place really, the business building. Great staff, great course content.
Cons: Slightly repetitive across modules but thats probably expected
How many contact hours per week do you have?
15
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
There is a careers centre that post jobs, offer support for interviews, CV building, placements. There is also the opportunity to run your own business as a placement year which I did and was fantastic. Skills workshops were also available throughout the year.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
The safety of my accomodation was impressive, key card to gain entry and security / night staff were usually present. The condition was good but after a few months uni halls for me became like a prison cell, nothing against them just the small rooms became a little cramped. However, maintenance was prompt, using an app to report any faults. Kitchen was in good condition and bathroom too. Location was perfect, out the way of the city, with a good view. There was on street car parking available (and underground locked for £50 a month). COst was roughly £100 p/w for a shared kitchen, not a studio flat.
