Edge Hill wasn't my first choice of University. I thought that the campus was all too close together, Ormskirk was too small a town and that I would be bored here. However I have really enjoyed my expeirence here and will be sad to leave. Edge Hill is a good university in terms of location, teaching and facilities provided. As a media student, the location is excellent because I am half an hour away from Media City based at Salford and also the same distance from Liverpool, which also has media companies. There is also the brand new building and television studio. The course has had its ups and downs as it has been recently changed, and annoying as this is we have to understand that they are being changed because new media is being developed all the time and these kind of specialist courses have to be kept up to date. I would reccommend this university as it is a lovely campus, the halls facilities are excellant and the teaching is of a high standard.

There is always a computer, somewhere on campus for you to use. The library and their online journals are brilliant, easy to use and find what you need and to get books or equipment out on loan.

Any problems that someone should have are easily sorted by student support; from a broken printer to more serious course problems.

Any time that I have been in need of the student union there has been someone available for me to talk with and who can offer advice and guidance on my problems. their 'rate your landlord' scheme is also very useful when it comes to finding a accommodation..

Ormskirk only has a few bars and clubs however Liverpool is only a short drive away.

I haven't really had time to get involved in any societies or clubs, however friends have and they really enjoy them.

Lectures do often seem to not link to our course, however they are taught in ways that are kept interesting. Lecturers are easy to get hold of and are always on hold to give extra feedback.

Very close to Media City at Salford and so work placements with the BBC or ITV are accessible. Also the teachers are either ex industry or are still working in industry and therefore can offer sound advice on how to break into the industry, or even offer placements.

I was very lucky that for my first year I was in the brand new Chancellors Court. The flats are spacious, comfortable and have some brilliant useful features such as the computers in the bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms.
