My University experience has been amazing so far. The University of Leicester has been so welcoming and friendly that it has made the transition to University a lot smoother. The course that I am currently enrolled in is very informative with some very interactive workshops as well as engaging lab work. All in all the student life at Leicester has been amazing as there is always something for everyone to do at the University. You feel included. The only room for improvement I can see is that the university is not advertised as much as others. Before applying to university I was unaware that the University of Leicester existed but now that I am here I love every minute of the experience.

During my first year I had some classes which were online and some which were in person, however, this year most of my classes have been on campus with an odd Q&A session being online. I feel like having pre-recorded lectures is really useful as you can always look back at the material and watch the videos again if anything is unclear, but if you are in a live lecture and something is unclear you can either tell the lecturer then or ask at the end of the lecture as it can be daunting to interrupt the lecture. But the good news is all live lectures are recorded so they can be viewed online after the session. I don't have too much contact with my tutor as I'm usually busy with Uni work but that would be something to improve on.

I stayed in one of the 2 options for Uni accommodation in Leicester which was the village. I stayed in a flat with 4 other girls who were all very lovely. The property was well maintained as we had maintenance come in to fix any issues we had and all we had to do was fill in a form to inform them of the issue. The accommodation is slightly away from the Uni around 20 mins by car but the University provided us with Uni buses which ran throughout the week to transport the students to the campus and back. The location itself was very beautiful, it had a lot of green spaces and was very refreshing from other universities. Looking at the safety aspect of things, the village accommodation had an app called Safe Zone which was used to track and make sure all the students in the accommodations felt safe. You could use the app to call for security or even send security your location if you ever felt unsafe. It was definitely worth the money. The accommodation also ran lots of events throughout the year which were free of charge. This was a great way to meet new people and make friends. The room allocation was based on your preferences, if you chose to stay in an all-girls flat that is what you were provided with. If you wanted a mixed-gender flat that could also be arranged.

The best definitely is the supportive environment. The worst is how it takes ages to refurbish the closed buildings.
