I’m at Penryn campus, so has an incredible location, and student support is great, along with careers advice. My course is really interesting, and i love being here by the sea

Lecturers extremely inspiring and knowledgable

Fire alarm was ridiculously sensitive, and kitchen wasn’t great but rooms were really good and spacious

The campus is gorgeous and well-maintained, so I can appreciate the beauty of nature whilst walking to and from lectures (it is the perfect habitat for local wildlife - I have seen a lot of animals here!). Unfortunately, the campus is on a fairly steep hill, but I do enjoy feeling fitter after trekking up Cardiac Hill everyday. Besides that, the facilities are very good and the online learning system works well - I can view past and future content on there, as well as deadlines. Academics seem knowledgeable and I am enjoying most of my course content. The Student Guild is very active and posts about a variety of activities each week. It seems that there are lots of study spaces and avenues for support, whether that be in regards to studies or wellbeing. I appreciate that the library works as an online resource, where I can view digital textbooks rather than having to buy or carry them, although the physical libraries do give that option too. The nightlife is pretty good: there is a large Wetherspoons close to campus and a couple of nightclubs in the city centre, which isn't too far away. The downside is that nights out cannot really be spontaneous since you usually have to buy tickets online in advance or wait in the longest queue ever. I feel very safe living in Exeter because the campus has 24/7 Estate Patrol and well-lit paths with security cameras. There's also a student nightline you can call if you're out and need a chat, although nobody answered the one time I called (lol, I guess it is run by volunteers though). Overall, I am really enjoying my experience at the University of Exeter, and I would highly recommend going here.

I like the content of my modules so far. Although I am not fully enjoying one module due to its nature (not how it is delivered, just the topic does not interest me), I understand that it is compulsory because it links to the other modules. I like how the course is taught in-person and the contact hours are low enough to allow sufficient time for independent study.

Thankfully, I got my first-choice for a room. However, the rent is so expensive that my maintenance loan falls very short of covering it, so I am concerned about finding my own funds to pay for the rest as well as groceries etc. But I wanted the full university experience of living on-campus for the first year. I just wish it were more affordable, since affording the rent is my absolute biggest stressor so far. I feel very safe here knowing that campus security can get here quickly in the event of a fire alarm. It is well-lit and monitored by security cameras too. There's a laundry room nearby which can be controlled by an app: you can reserve machines, pay online, and get notified when your cycle is finished, so you don't have to hang around. There is another app where you get notified about parcels being ready for collection from reception, and you can also submit issues with the accommodation. Maintenance resolved the issue I submitted (faulty electrical socket) within a couple of days, which was good. Unfortunately, the lift in my block has been broken since before freshers week. The accommodation team do kindly send out updates regarding progress to this situation, as well as notifying us of any upcoming works in the area which may cause inconvenience. I have had no problems with the internet, even when playing online games. Birks is generally a lovely area and is closest to the Wetherspoons, but you have to hike up Cardiac Hill to get to campus. You do get used to it, but it can be annoying.
