My lecturers are great and make my course fun! One of the reasons I like the university is because it is small and this means that you bump into lots of friends. Aston University is a great place to learn and explore deeper into the subjects that we study. In my course they do actively try and make us think, which is great! The only thing I would prefer to be different and this is the case with all universities is the way the students are tested. In my course it is through a range of mixed assessments such as presentations, essay-based writing and exams. This is quite nice, but I would prefer that there were no exams at all and rather than only recalling facts through exams we should be taught to think and solve problems. Which to a good extent we are, but as with all universities, when the students are given exams they just try to memorise things that will get them the highest grades rather than explore beyond the realms of what they have been taught. So, I suppose my concern is not really with Aston but with the educational system perhaps. A lot of students are much better and more insightful when simply talked to in a relaxed and calm way, perhaps that could be a type of assessment. Thank you for taking the time to read this. My course is amazing! It has a blended learning approach and we have a good amount of in-person contact hours with lecturers. The timetable is very convenient because we have lectures and a practical only 3 days a week, the rest of the week we can look into the content at a deeper level or do anything else like work a part-time job. My lecturers are very passionate about what they teach and care about how we do. They are ready to help and very kind in doing so. What's best is that my professors actively make me think and want me to solve problems rather than recall facts.

Overall my experience has been great. My lecturers have been extremely helpful especially during the pandemic and I would highly recommend. If you wish to study neuroscience from the first year onwards with great practical experience it is really good. Weekly practicals with the opportunity to work in teams or by yourself as well. The SU has also been really helpful, especially with their well-being check in initiative always helping when needed
