I’ve just started my first year at Kingston University’s Roehampton Vale campus, and so far the experience has been really positive. The campus is much more focused than I expected, with everything centred around engineering, which makes it feel like the right place to study my course. The facilities are impressive – there are specialist labs, workshops, and study spaces that I’m looking forward to using as the year goes on. Transport links into Kingston are straightforward, though I’ve already noticed parking is quite limited for students. Overall, in just my first week I already feel welcomed and excited about the opportunities here.

My top tip for starting out at Roehampton Vale is to make the most of the specialist facilities from the very beginning. Don’t wait until later in the year to familiarise yourself with the workshops, labs, and software—take the time now to explore, ask questions, and get comfortable with the equipment. It not only helps you feel more confident when projects begin, but also means you’ll get the maximum value out of the campus’s excellent resources.
