The best thing about Newcastle is that there’s something for everyone. Even though it has a reputation for being just for going out, there are hundreds of cute cafes and other, non-drinking activities. Of course, if you like going out, there’s plenty of bars and clubs too. I’m a physics student, and the physics building is a little sad looking, but otherwise the campus is gorgeous. Everyone is so friendly and supportive anyway that it doesn’t really matter that my building is a little on the uglier side.

The physics course is now entirely in-class learning, which is great. It really improves how you learn - so much easier to retain knowledge when you can ask your lecturer questions right in the moment. We have around 15 contact hours per week, including lectures, problems classes and the occasional tutorial, and all lecturers have at least one office hour a week. Most of them have two.

The other halls are lovely from what I’ve seen, it’s just Portland Green that’s horrible. It has a reputation for being the worst (next to Castle Leazes), but the main thing is it’s really far from uni.
