A great uni in a picturesque location. Degrees take 4 years so entry requirements will seem low for UK students but it definitely gets harder in the last few years. Also it allows you to be more relaxed and enjoy your experience of living alone at the start of your degree (3 year direct entry is also avalible.) Also did I mention Glasgow is a city beeming with character and things to do, so come here and have a great experience of university.

Two unions > one union

The University of Glasgow is a great place to study. The location right in the heart of the west end and only 10 minutes from the city centre by subway make it easy to balance uni work and fun and the city's transport links make it easy to get to uni even if you don't live on campus. As there is such a large student body there are many student societies and sports clubs, truly something for everyone, and joining a society or a sports club is a great way to make new friends. There are plenty of places to study on campus from the silent floors of the library to the busy communal spaces of the JMS there is plenty of space on campus to study and there will always be a place to suit your studying needs. The university has decent student support, but this could definitely be improved upon with better counselling and mental health support for students. Also, it can be difficult to find student accommodation on or near campus as the city is very busy and housing prices are going up.

The physics and astronomy course is very well structured and covers everything you need to know in order to ensure you have a strong basic physics knowledge to build upon in later years. Labs and tutorials help consolidate lecture content and projects in later years are a good way to build towards undertaking a full project in your final year. The astronomy course provides lots of coding practise, definately more so than in the physics course. The vast majority of lecturers are good and explain difficult concepts clearly and the classes generally have good resources avaliable, such as textbooks, pre-recorded videos, Q&A forums and so on.
