In terms of student support, I’d say having access to the support is very easy. However, the support you receive doesn’t necessarily meet the standard you would want it to especially if you’re going through a hard time. In terms of socialising it’s definitely something you have to build on yourself because there aren’t many opportunities for you to mix with people such as your flatmates or other people in your accommodation at the start of your stay and so it does leave you to have to put in a lot more effort. The education and support in general education that you receive is I would say very good and the educators are very open to your own situation. In terms of societies, they are very accessible via the app , however it feels very closed off in terms of joining and very often it will be hard to get in taster sessions and get a good feel for a society before having to pay the fee to join, which is the main reason why I haven’t joined One , so I don’t have much to say overall about the societies. Student union seems to work well but I personally haven’t had much contact with them or had much to do with them. Overall, I would say Reading is a very good university to be out especially in terms of the education you will receive and its proximity to various locations such as London and Oxford, and a myriad of other places makes it a very convenient place to live.

In art, there is definitely an amazing amount of contact between teachers and students and there is always a lot of room to really let your own thoughts and ideas be expressed and you are very much listened to and appreciated by your tutors and it feels very friendly. In philosophy, there is a bit more distance between tutors and students Purely due to the layout of the course, but this does not impact the quality of the teaching you receive.

The best thing about my whole is probably the fact I’m in quiet residency so I’m able to really have my own space to focus and recharge one issue I do have with Halls is that often times maintenance can be a bit slow or not fully resolve an issue. This hasn’t personally been something I’ve experienced but I have seen a lot of my friends and flatmates get lacklustre solutions from the maintenance they receive

I love uni because you feel like you are treated as an adult. It’s your responsibility to attend and get work done, however there are still lots of areas for support of you need it, eg academic tutors of help desks. I think that a bit more communication between staff and students could be handy, especially when it comes to lecturer absences, but besides that I think everything is great!

In my course I got to pick what modules I wanted to do, rather than being forced to do certain ones, which I thought was very liberating and free. I however am not a fan of online lectures, especially if they don’t line up well in my timetable, eg I have an online lesson at 11 and a in person lesson at 12. I would have to then come into uni anyway and do my online lesson in the library, because I would not be able to do the lesson at home and then make it into uni in time for the in person lecture.
