What makes Worcester a great place to study is how friendly all of the staff are and how supportive everyone is. The location is picturesque as the river runs through the city and there’s plenty of shops and places to eat. The facilities are pretty good as I have all my lessons in one block and mostly everything that I need is provided. I feel like maybe the Art house could be bigger so that everyone has more space as it can feel a bit squished, especially in illustration. I feel like it would be easier if the City and St. John’s campuses were closer together but I understand why they aren’t. The student union is great and I always get notifications about what’s going on so I’m aware of what activities and society’s the university has on offer.

I do a joint honours course so I do two modules from each of those. I like the fact that all my lectures are studio based as it encourages us to come in and work rather than do everything online and it gets you into good habits. In Illustration I feel like we learn a lot of content and we have many workshops which has helped me develop my skills. The only improvement I would give for illustration is that there could be more studio space as I feel like the space is limited compared to the Fine Art space. In Fine Art I feel like the course requires an improvement as we don’t do many workshops and I feel like we have too much independent study and not enough time to be shown new skills that we can use in our work. On both of our courses we haven’t been shown or had anyone talk to us about any work placements or internships that we could do to help us progress with our careers in the future. We do have lots of artist talks for both courses that help us feel inspired and we can learn from them. I would like to learn more about career projects and how I can apply my degree to them and use it in a future job, I feel like neither of the courses have talked about life after university with us. The tutors are usually available and ready to help you, we have their emails and the times that they are available which helps us and everyone has a PAT that they can discuss any issues with. The facilities are pretty good. The art block is one whole building which makes it easier for me as all my lectures are in there. I would say that compared to other universities that I’ve been the space is smaller but we still have lots of equipment.

Worcester City is a great size for students as it’s not too big but at the same time it’s also not too small. There are plenty of eateries, shops and there are two train stations that have links to cities that are close by like Birmingham and Gloucester. Worcester is very pretty and I enjoy walking along the river and getting some fresh air. There are plenty of Part Time job opportunities which is useful for students. There’s also some decent clubs that you can go to and some nice pubs where you can chill out with friends.

Brilliant! I was hesitant to start my course here as I felt it wasn’t a well known university and so would affect my employability in the future having gone to a little known high school and college. I’m now through my first semester and am loving the course and university - largely down to the lecturers!

Good. I haven’t used the counselling service as it’s always booked up / prefer not to use it. Academic support is readily available at all times through our personal tutor

Though I’ve only been here for one semester, I’m impressed at the proactive nature of the SU.

Yes - within walking distance to city and buses are available too that take you from the main campus to the city centre

Huge variety of societies available to join!

Most: Mix of practical and theory is well balanced and fun. Least: cramming deadlines towards the end of the semester so that four modules’ worth of final projects have to be in on the same week regardless of how much work is needed.
