The best aspects of my uni life would be the location, being so close to the sea and gorgeous outdoor spaces creates a great balance between studying and getting active outdoors which is a huge part of my life. It could be improved through greater access to cheap travel, knowledge and run trips to teach students how to understand the outdoors safely. The university's use of social media is also great to point students to upcoming events and learning opportunities aswell. It also provides help and guidance about mental health amd fanatical worries which is key when attending university in times like these.

It's great, all round its really good. My lecturers teaching methods are perfect, they propose projects which lead to learning which is useful for future carers and boosting confidence. We have a mix of studio teaching projects and self run projects which works really well. And I have lots of contact with my lecturers.

Value for money is bad, it was double the rent than the house in my second year with less space, smaller room and smaller bathroom. The one benefit was that there was a cleaner which came in and cleaned the kitchen space once a week. My opinion of halls is pretty bad but in all honesty I was in halls during the pandemic and we were shut down in lockdowns constantly. It was the worst time to be in halls and I know alot of students really struggled alot with their mental health.

The university is located in the lovely city of Plymouth, which has great nightlife and a lovely view at the Habour. Although Plymouth is a bit far away from everything, it’s a nice city to study in. The amount of greenery is nicely surprising; there are plenty of nice places to go outside and study. The library is also very facilitating with great student support. I’ve found the stupid Union very helpful when I was getting stressed about finding work and handling Uni stress. You can easily book an appointment with people at the union and arrange chats to suit your schedule.

I’ve had a lot of challenges with this course as I’ve found the stress overwhelming. The course content is packed with modules overlapping constantly, even though the course actually ends a month early! I don’t understand why the course can’t end at the normal time and let us slow down on the content. The content is interesting and informative to an extent, but it’s heavily reliant on self taught work. You are guided through the course with tutorials but you’re expected to learn new skills and improve on your own account while battening through multiple modules and short deadlines. The feedback can be informative most of the time, however, there have been tutors who devalue my work and aren’t receptive to the stress of university life. A few of my friends on the course agree that it has demotivated us and we’ve lost some passion for Illustration by going through the stress of this course. With that being said, I do think it’s a valuable course if you can handle the workload. The facilities are great, there’s loads of creative things you can get classes in and go do whenever you want: sculpting clay, 3D printing, print making and loads more.
