Best: decent facilities, friendly staff/lecturers and students, interesting and engagingcourse modules Worst: Area is a bit sketchy in the dark so I wouldn't walk around my myself at night, not much student entertainment and nightlife in and around the university

Best: interesting and engaging course modules, friendly lecturers, provides us with information about work outside of uni regarding our subject, flexible modules. Worst: some parts of the department seem a bit underfunded, we only have 1 A1 draw between two of us to store our work.

Best: good sized rooms with a bathroom, nice to have nature around us, isn't too far from the university. Worst: had quite a few issues with the kitchen; our hob has had quite a few issues since starting which were fixed but they won't fix our leaking ceiling in the kitchen which is annoying when it goes frosty or rains a lot.

I'd say the university as a whole is about what you'd expect from a decent Uni, the campus itself is nothing special but its gets the job done and there's a few nice cafe's and study areas. The classes are good, although I will say for the amount we're paying there aren't that many classes in a week. I'm supposedly a 'full time student' and currently only have 2.5 classes a week, with the rest of my time being SMT. Half the time it feels like I'm teaching myself. One thing I can't complain about is the staff, all the staff here are lovely and are probably the biggest pro I have. While I'm sure there are bad staff members around, personally all the staff on my course are amazing and have made it a much nicer experience. There are a lot of interesting facilities around the campus when it comes to the creative departments. Wood working rooms, metal work, computers, drawing tablets, an on campus art store, screen printing, laser cutting, 3d printing and more. I will say I havent had much time to actually test these out myself outside of some short workshops they all do seem very interesting and its definitely something to consider. Another issue I have is that there's a lot of stuff that's necessary for our course that we've had to pay for our of pocket on top of our already rather expensive tuition, which isnt really ideal and has caused extra stress over the year, so be prepared that could become an issue. We've also recently lost some staff members due to budget cuts which...Really did suck. I know I've complained quite a bit but I really don't hate the uni or even dislike it. The environment is nice and while I don't go out I've heard it is nice if you're into that kind of socialisation as well. The classes are good and the staff are great it just would have been nice if there was a bit more of the classes we're paying so much to receive.

The course I'm on is a bit niche but overall I've enjoyed my time with it. There's been some annoying unexpected costs and we don't have as many lessons as I'd have liked per week (2.5 a week, I'm meant to be a full time student) so it doesn't always feel like we're getting the most out of the course but the staff are great, some of the nicest teachers I've ever met and generally very knowledgeable in their chosen areas There is a lot of work but it is very enjoyable, it just would have been nice if there was a bit more time in class, but the teachers are generally pretty good at helping you via email or if you go into the class room. I am a second year, so take my 'Work placements and internships' rating with a grain of salt, since I believe that becomes more relevant in the third year.

I lived here during my first year and it was...Ok. The rooms are very small, often being compared to 'prison cells' by anyone who visited. Some are a little smaller than others but either way its only a small difference. I got quite lucky that I was only roomed with 2 other people, but I think the flats can have up to 8 people. It was either 8 or 6. The kitchen is quite good, decently spacious with enough room for everyone. It's a little out of the way from campus, only maybe a 10-15 min walk so not bad at all, and there's shops like The Range and Aldi close by, again within a 5-15 min walk roughly. The distance from the uni compared to the other accommodation is noticeable when it takes security much longer to get there at night, either to turn off fire alarms, check on reports, anything like that, which isnt ideal. Speaking of that be prepared to get woken up by fire alarm drills 1-2 times a week. It's good they check it of course, better safe than sorry, but it can get a little tiresome. The ensuite bathroom is nothing special, very small but it has everything you need, shower, toilet, sink and small mirror, so that's not really an issue. I am a smaller person however so I could see this being a little more inconvenient if you're larger in anyway, but I doubt it will be a big issue either way. The bed is ok, just make sure to have some warm covers and decent pillows and you'll be just fine. You do have pretty minimal storage space with one wardrobe and two shelves, and anything you can fit under the bed, so do keep that in mind.
