Overall the experience has been good considering covid and how the unis adapted to the problem. The support has been exceptional and grades have been up since they’ve introduced platforms and routes to take on how we’re feeling in our current courses. The course content has been an overload as you would expect of 2nd year but it’s been bearable with the help of extra feedback and time spent by tutors in helping us understand and get further than our average grades this year. However despite this I still don’t think my time this year was good value for money purely because I’m on a practical course I need to be the studio doing my projects and acc doing the sessions hands on and collaborating with my peers. The environment is crucial to my developmental learning as designer.

Library is open 24/7 so are the printers, the socially distanced system that’s been put in place where u have to book before hand through a QR code has been running smoothly, all facilities especially toilets, computer spaces in the library and groups areas, the canteen, and and venue bars or student union areas, they are cleaned throughout the day in intervals every 4-5hrs hygiene it’s very on point. Equipment hire hasn’t been so easy since some are working from hone and of course they have keys which we can’t access because of that obstacle so it’s difficult rn to book a photography studio but everyone else has been openly accessible but of course we have to prebook and speak to a technician beforehand regarding the project

The disabilities service and advice & counselling centre has been extremely helpful, every student was advised to get a session booked with someone to speak out about how we’re feeling and most of us booked within our second year and first half of the first semester, the support has been exceptional with their understanding and just listening it’s really helped me a lot with my mental health considering I was in the bad place at the start of the year.

The first semester was completely online but thought second and third THERES been a blend of the online and hybrid face to face sessions where we’ve been taught socially distanced. For teaching hrs in terms of lessons for me it’s been 16 hrs but counting feedback and one to one sessions it’s most likely been 23-25 where we’ve been given additional support. Contact with tutors has been good, feedback & interaction has helped keep our grades up and motivation as well.
