I think the best aspects of our university are teachers. All students are provided with support, teachers go out of their way and always try to help us whether it’s just a conversation or them helping you to catch up in their free time. University itself has a nice campus, everything is very accessible and I feel very safe here, it is also not far from the town centre so students get to save a lot of money on transport as everything is within a walking distance. The only downside it is just a very rainy and cold city during autumn and winter but it’s just a location. University has very good support system and you can get any help with whatever you need at any time, it’s not only teachers but everything else including student systems, financial support, international student support and anything else that you might need. Facilities are great, new and old buildings are in great condition and good designs. Overall, I think it is a nice university and each year they are getting better and better.

Our course mostly consists of Asian countries content with Korean language, I would say that the teachers provide us with interesting and informative topics. Our Korean teachers in particular are very helpful and supportive, they never make you feel bad if you are struggling with learning and offer to help you in their own free time. I wish we could get more hours on our language class as maybe some students like to do self study but me including find it more affective to learn the language when we are in class. All lectures usually take around two hours and I think it is great, we get a little breaks in between hours what makes it easier to process the class input. Whenever we have some online classes or seminars teachers make sure that we all are involved and paying attention, they care about our inclusion. Sometimes I wish our classes would start a little later as most of them start at 9am and maybe also not end so late as some of our classes are until 6-7pm sometimes. Overall, my course is enjoyable, we get a lot of time for self study but we are also getting a lot of fun and interesting lectures. For me personally, our teachers make sure that the classes are not boring, we all enjoy coming to class because our teachers are really nice.

Preston is a quiet city, overall students tend to spend their time in the campus and city centre. In the centre itself there are a lot of places for shopping, cute cafes and restaurants and of course many bars, pubs and nightclubs. There are plenty of places to take a walk as there are many beautiful parks right in the town centre. I think being a student it is very important for us to have places to go and relax with our friends and I think that Preston have so many cute cafes and coffee places that are very affordable with nice designs for our pictures on instagram. If you want to travel somewhere it is also not an issue as the train station is right in town centre and it takes around 10 minutes from campus to get to the station. A lot of fast food places are open until late night which is helpful for students who study until late and fancy a late night dinner. Apart from good qualities that I mentioned, Preston changes every year and Preston becomes even better place, they fixed the roads and made nice streets for walking with beautiful lights and decorations.

My first ever accommodation was University’s Halls, most of the time you get your own good size room and you share two bathrooms and kitchen space with other 4-5 students in the flat. Me personally I never had any bad experiences while staying there. All student halls are right on campus and it takes just a few minutes to get to any university building. The flats themselves are very nice, quite modern and rooms are cozy. Office stuff is always available and even if you lose your key in the middle of the night they will come and help you. The value for money is amazing, these halls are the cheapest in town and you gets to save a lot of money comparing to any other accommodation in town. Any maintenance issues are quickly fixed and if you have any issues you can always just email the office and they will help you as quick as possible. Overall, I would say it was the cheapest and most pleasant experience living in university’s halls comparing to other student residences especially considering the low prices.

Despite the pandemic, the university experience during my short time here has been somewhat satisfying. But I had hoped that there was more blended learning instead of just sitting from a camera screen and learning. I hoped that that be more ways of learning instead of it all being online, this made me question if my £9250 tuition fee was worth all this.

The only shared space that is available to us during this pandemic is the library. The library used to be 24 hour run in Term 1. It is back to normal opening times. There was a brief cyber attack which rendered some students to have their assignments pushed back two weeks. This of course created a disruption in learning, but this was handled in a very professional way and was soon remedied and fixed. The library is the only source of shared space and where we can receive certain services such as renting books printing and so forth.

From since starting in September 2020, I have been made aware of certain student services that we can apply for and the student support team reply as soon as possible make it very easy to receive support, advice and guidance.

The teachers and lecturers provide amazing resources, blended learning went really well in Term 1. But from Term 2, everything has been fully online, thus preventing us from making that face-to-face communication with our lecturers, which delayed the process of developing further in our studies, as well as leaving room for miscommunication to arise. But for now I have been somewhat satisfied with the way that my course is taught, especially during the global pandemic, and I'm really appreciative of the lectures and their efforts made during this trying time.
