As a smaller university, you seem to create more of a close knit relationship amongst other students and lecturers which is very helpful, although I feel getting actual student support when you feel most vulnerable is rather difficult and long winded.

Our main lecturer for my course is honestly the best! As a brand new course at the university, you can imagine the difficulties but our lecturer has been consistently supportive not just with the work but with us as individuals. He has always fought for getting more opportunities for our course and is always available to support us in any way. Introducing more contacts and potential employers, bringing more networking opportunities to us. He has helped me greatly and for that I will always be grateful for.

I think Stoke is quite underrated overall, there are plenty of opportunities here in comparison to a lot of other towns I’ve lived in, you just need to get out there and find them!

In my opinion, maintenance was a bit of a pain that I can remember, reporting things several times before they’d deal with the issue. Not being taken seriously about the ‘gas smell’ in the bathroom until another set of halls reported it and had similar issues. My opinion is bias though as it was the year of covid still and we were evacuated mid way through, although I respect the university for allowing some students to remain on campus and continue using the facilities whilst in lockdown.
