I've given the student union, job prospects and eye candy a low rating because none of them apply to me, so they might be good but I don't know. I'm involved with a few society's and can recommend you join as many as you like. They're a great way to meet new people who are similar to you. I joined the Sci-fi society and though some of it's a bit "out there" for me, they're really nice people with a lot of things to say about what they enjoy. As far as I know the societies are good value for money so there's no excuse not to get involved. It also gives you reasons to get away from Flatmates and have some other friends.
