I attend the city campus, in particular the smallest location on the city campus. I do love Brighton and the campus location is very close to town which I like. Although some of the facilities such as computers, software and cameras etc. are very useful, there isn't a lot of specialised equipment for animation. There is a small animation room with rostrums and one green screen and 3 light boxes, which isn't a lot for a whole campus. I think that I would have liked to have seen more facilities such as lighting, 3D printing or even personal work spaces. Also, there aren't many social areas or any vending machines on my campus. The only available food is a mobile truck outside that sells soup and coffee. I do think that the student support is very good, although I haven't personally needed to use it much, I have been made aware that the various branches of student support exist, should I need to use it. The online system for students to check emails or access onedrive, course materials etc. isn't very intuitive, I think a lot of people on my course have often been confused by it. This might be especially difficult for students with learning disability.

As students we receive a lot of email about work placements, job fairs, internships, working abroad etc. I applied to a one off job through the student email and received some work through this facility as a visual deisgner. This aspect is great. The course content is okay, although the first term wasn't very informative, and students that had never animated before were thrown in to the deep end, being told to make animations without being shown how. This could have been improved with workshops or demonstrations. Now that we are in the second term, we are being taught new software, which is a huge improvement from the first term. Similarly, the teaching quality was basically non-existent in the first term. The lecturers we received in the first term were not teachers, and were people who worked in the animation field, therefore often expressed being confused or unsure about the way the university system worked, how students were supposed to access study materials online such as the brief, how things are graded etc. Which seemed like an administrative fault due to the fact that the course leader was changed as soon as the course began. Leading to a lot of confusion for students looking to receive clarity. Tutor contact time was very limited outside of classes which amount to approx 6-7 hours a week. Before the submission deadine, some tutors offered additional support via email, and some offered 5 minute one to ones during lesson time. I am unsure of the realistic career prospects for when I finish my degree. As I am still in first year, I have not yet seeked this information.

Brighton is a great city. There is a lot of diversity and support for LGBTQ people. There are lots of options for nightlife, and I feel safe getting around.

A greatly diverse experience having teachers and student alike from all over the world with varying experiences and background. Attentive tutor eager to teach and support always on hand. Whilst location wise having to travel a lot especially when all the university buildings are all over Brighton is annoying, they keep facilities in one building so you won't have to travel from one to another between lessons.

I've not had any information given to me about work placement or internships but that might be due to me being first year. The buildings and needed facilities are open from around 8 am to 8 pm, allowing loads of time outside of lesson to get work done with facilities. Ever tutor I've had has a real drive and knack for the module they're teaching whilst having a mix of tutors does get confusing as learning everyone's name and email is a struggle for me.
